I've reached Reese's Peanut Butter Cup overdose

I feel peanut butter coursing through my veins.

Last night, for the first time in his 4 years of life, Mason went Trick or Treating. He had a lot of fun, but I think we had more fun last night than he did. We really enjoyed the moment of being a "typical" family.

Mason doesn't "do" costumes. If he's wearing something, it had better resemble regular street clothes.

So since a costume wasn't going to happen we did the next best thing. Black sweats, and an orange sweatshirt. Rashele used her artistic ability and drew a nice pumpkin on the shirt. (you can't see it very well in the picture)

This year Mason actually enjoyed the door to door adventure. he's always looking for a reason to ring a doorbell.

He held hands with his sister when she managed to patient enough for our snail's pace going house to house. Eventually she ditched us and ran from house to house with her friend Diego.

He walked the entire time. He never once asked to be picked up and carried.

He managed to say "Trick or Treat" and "Thank You" and "Happy Halloween" at every door. He made great eye contact with perfect strangers.

He didn't really understand why these people, complete strangers, were giving him candy that he had no intention of ever eating. (see my Will Work For Food Post)

That's where I come in. Man Reeses Peanut Butter Cups taste good when they're frozen.

I found your blog through Autismville and I wanted to say it is a joy to read it. I work with children like Mason and it is really interesting to see a dad's take on life. thank you

You are too kind Andrea. I read Autismville every chance I get. I am lucky enough to call Judith a great friend. We were sad to see her leave us here in Dallas, but we're very happy that Jack will get much better services up there in MA.
